David & Linda, Buckinghamshire 2013
For several years we have been in unstable conditions, as due to health problems we needed to downsize and struggled as we believed there was no help available. Being given the opportunity to live in the village with all our family and friends, has helped because of the support we receive from them and we can now be involved with the social activities and fund raising. This means absolutely everything to us, this environment has helped with practical support.
Alison, Devon 2013
I have lived in Devon for 8 years, I work here and my daughter attends school. As a single parent it would have been difficult to get a deposit and mortgage to buy a house without shared ownership. Having always rented I started looking at shared ownership about 4 years ago. Once I had saved a reasonable deposit I committed to buying a home.
Angela, Norfolk, 2013
When you are born and bred in an area, it is always lovely going back. Plus my parents are a stones throw away from me. I was privately renting and stuck in a rut with no light at the end of the tunnel. Now I own some of this property with affordable rent on the other part. This is security for myself and my family.
Peter, Sussex 2013
It is great to live in the same village as my parents and sister. We were crammed into one room together, now we can spread out and socialise more. we are very proud and enjoy showing our home off. Our family are delighted with it.
Philip & Alison, Essex 2013
Alisons mum lives in the next road and other family are near. My work is only 10 minutes walk away. We lived with Alison's mum for 4 years so now it is so nice to finaly have our own family home. Our new home means everything to us, we have our own space and can start being a family. Our little boy finally has his own bedroom.
Zoe & David, Cornwall 2013
The house is lovely we're so pleased with it. we wouldn't have been able to get a foot on the property ladder without it. If it hadn't been for this opportunity, I would have ended up living with my parents during the week and commuting to see Zoe at weekends, which wouldn't have been ideal for our relationship.
Katherine, Dorset, 2014
I have lived in Dorset all my life and have family and friends here. I applied for shared ownership because it seemed the most affordable way to get onto the property ladder. Originally my fiancé and I were renting but our landlord sold our property. At the time we had to move back home with his mum and sister in Feb 2013. Our life feels like we can move forward again and it has improved tenfold.
